Royal Enfield motorcycles are "real," not "retro"

Royal Enfield is real, not retro.
Short, funny and worth watching is the Ashley Phillips interview with Royal Enfield USA CEO Kevin Mahoney at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, Calif.

The camera shows off the Royal Enfield Bullet C5 and the new Continental GT cafe racer.

Meanwhile, Mahoney explains that Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle brand in the world in continuous production — founded in 1901.

The Continental GT, he says, is the first completely new model Royal Enfield has built in about 60 years.

"So things don't change very fast at Royal Enfield."

Later, the interviewer compliments Royal Enfield on "the retro style that you guys have."

"Well... that's kind of you to say, but it's not retro," Mahoney says.

"We're the real thing; we've been around that long. The other people are retro."
