Here's a Royal Enfield salute to veterans

Bullet motorcycle and Sabre jet are from the same era.
My Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle looks even more vintage than usual next to the sleek Air Force F-86H Sabre jet in this picture.

The jet fighter plane is just as old a design — planes just like it fought in the Korean War at the same time Bullets were pouring out of the factory in Redditch, England.

I guess the difference makes itself apparent in the need to go 600 mph instead of 60.

The Sabre in the photo watches the skies from its pylon in front of War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Hurricane Wilma knocked the jet down in 2005, but it was restored by the Air Force Association, returned to its perch and rededicated on Veterans Day in 2009.

This particular jet never saw service in Korea. It wasn't built until 1954. The city bought it from the Maryland Air National Guard and put it on display in 1974 as a moment to veterans of all branches of the military.

Today is Veterans Day in the United States. Here's a salute to those who served.
