Some drivers resent it (very occasionally I've been deliberately blocked); most don't even know you're there until you come past; a few actively make way. Can't say it makes for less risk but it certainly cuts down on frustration levels.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1943715898894235198.post-80799695592934444442009-05-07T17:19:00.000-04:002009-05-07T17:19:00.000-04:00I think it only works if everybodys on board,kinda...I think it only works if everybodys on board, kinda like the Autobahn in Germany. But not the crazy guy in this video..JB

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjmtpp7GzhYAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1943715898894235198.post-19879946152242551012009-05-07T15:34:00.000-04:002009-05-07T15:34:00.000-04:00As someone who wants to be able to ride (the new C...As someone who wants to be able to ride (the new C5 isn't available in CA)& has numerous friends & family (& pastors & dentists) who ride, I make a make a point of scooting over so the lane-splitter in my mirror can get by. I never saw a single incident either on the freeway or the surface streets. As a rider now, I stay off the highways by customizing my route using maps.Google.comChris Bartletthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13711097656813059080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1943715898894235198.post-6895726413957733892009-05-07T10:09:00.000-04:002009-05-07T10:09:00.000-04:00I think the wiki article said it all. Lane splitt...I think the wiki article said it all. Lane splitting is somewhat dangerous for the motorcycle rider, but it relieves him or her from the other (apparently worse) danger of being directly in front of a moving car on a congested Interstate. It's good that other drivers are OK with it. When I am driving a car and someone slips by me on a bike like that, I white-knuckle the steering wheel, and Roynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1943715898894235198.post-52470098732241811542009-05-07T09:15:00.000-04:002009-05-07T09:15:00.000-04:00The wikipedia article on the subject is interestin...The wikipedia article on the subject is interesting,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lane_splitting

apparently there are studies that suggest it reduces accidents.
